In 2015 an article in Men’s Journal on the excessive use of drugs by PTSD struck veterans, sparked Stig Severinsen’s mission to use his Breatheology Method of breathing to help people with PTSD.
With his background as freediving world champion and multiple Guinness World Record holder (e.g. holding his breath for more than 22 minutes), he has been in stressful situations where he had to develop a method to stay comfortable in an extremely uncomfortable situation.
“I was convinced there had to be a better way than “numbing the brain” with drugs.
To put my theory to the test, I sponsored a workshop inviting people with PTSD to San Diego on 3-day workshop.
I wanted to combine my intuition for the healing power of meditation in water and the benefits of Breatheology – The Art of Conscious Breathing – a bestselling book that I wrote 5 years earlier.” – Stig Severinsen
Knowing how well the Breatheology Method performed in workshops, we needed to develop a program that could be done at home.
That is why we developed the PTSD Liberation course in collaboration with Navy SEALs, warfare psychologists, trauma nurses, and training experts.
Thus, this course builds on the latest knowledge, experience, and treatment methods using body and mind.
